Stories like mine usually begin ‘I’ve struggled with being overweight my whole life’. Except in my case that’s not true. I put on weight after university when there was no-one to see or judge how much Cuervo or KFC I was shoving into myself. And then I found the secret prize at the bottom of every takeaway bag – morbid obesity!
But while I may not have struggled with being overweight my whole life, what I have struggled with is keeping the weight off permanently. I’ve gone up, down, up, down and up again, like some sort of yo-yo on crack. In fact you can read the whole sad story here. It’s been an exhausting ride, and I’m thoroughly sick of it.
That’s why in July 2013, I made a commitment to myself to lose the weight, and lose it permanently this time. So far I’ve lost over 20kg* thanks to low carb eating and consistent weight training. But I’ve still got a long way to go. That’s why I created this blog – a way for me to share my story, stay accountable for my goals, and hopefully inspire other people to take the first step towards theirs.
So join me as I walk the road to wellness, losing it in the healthiest way possible for mind, body and soul.
